Middlesbrough are finalising a £15m club-record transfer for Britt Assombalonga from Nottingham Forest, according to Sky sources.
We understand the striker is being put through his medical after Boro’s bid was accepted on Monday afternoon.
Middlesbrough were relegated from the Premier League last season but are hoping to bounce straight back and have been busy strengthening their squad.
Martin Braithwaite, Jonny Howson and Cyrus Christie have already been added to Garry Monk’s squad and Assombalonga may be set to join them.
The 24-year-old still has four years left on the contract he signed with Forest ahead of last season.
But he has reportedly expressed a desire to move on and Boro seem to have beaten several other clubs to his signature.
