D.C. United, down by two goals and playing with 10 men, posted a dramatic comeback in the final moments of the match to shock Toronto FC. Midfielder Federico Higuain scored an incredible chip to begin the comeback in the 84th minute in his first match with the club, before defender Frederic Brillant’s equalizing header in stoppage time.
Toronto FC was boosted by 20-year-old Homegrown forward Ayo Akinola’s breakout performance, as he scored the second goal of his MLS career with a rocket from outside the box in the 12th minute before finishing with another goal in the 44th minute.
