Marvin Johnson impressed in Oxford’s 3-0 win over Portsmouth
Hull’s bid for winger Marvin Johnson has been rejected, Oxford boss Pep Clotet has confirmed.
Sky sources reported on Thursday that the Tigers had made an offer for the 26-year-old but Oxford insist he is “not for sale”.
Johnson impressed as Oxford beat Portsmouth 3-0 in Sky Bet League One on Saturday and Clotet praised Johnson’s display.
Marvin Johnson has done well for Oxford since joining from Motherwell in 2016
He said: “The same situation applies to what the chairman said on Wednesday – Marvin is not for sale.
“Apart from that I’m very happy with his performance, his attitude and his commitment. He worked hard for his teammates and it was a tough game for him in the first half.
“When the game opened up in the second half he gave a glimpse of what he can do and he was fantastic going forward as well.”

Johnson joined Oxford from Motherwell a year ago for £650,000 and has since made over 40 appearances for the club.
He scored Oxford’s opener in last Tuesday’s 4-3 defeat to Cheltenham in the EFL Cup.
Johnson began his career at Solihull Moors before moving to Kidderminster Harriers in 2012. He had a short spell at Hednesford before signing for Motherwell.
