According to him, from November 26, London will stop flights to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Namibia, Eswatini, and South Africa. He noted that this decision was made due to a new strain of coronavirus B.1.1.529 detected in the African region, which may be more contagious than the others.
The Minister also stressed that the UK Health Safety Agency is currently studying this variant of COVID-19, but it is necessary to wait for more detailed data on it. In addition, he added that Britons returning from these countries will be required to observe quarantine upon arrival.
